Linda Ashley-Davidson, along with Iain Gardner formed
the Swans Swimming Club in 1987. The club began slowly
with a 1 hour per week teaching session. Over the years,
the teaching scheme has grown to 9 hours per week
providing a combination of ½ and 1 hour sessions from
Parent and Child through to Advanced and Rookie Life
Guard sessions.
The Club today
Today, not only do Swans provide lessons, but they
provide squad training via a challenging training
programme for young and older swimmers who want to
compete. Swans squads are broken down into:
Cygnets = 8yrs and older
Swans = generally 12yrs and older (although
transition from Cygnets to Swans is at the discretion of
the Chief Coach)
Masters = those of more mature years i.e. 18yrs
and over.
