Team Lists

These will appear on the notice board a few weeks before an event. Please keep checking on club night.

Please indicate with a tick / cross whether you can attend or not.

Home Galas

These normally start with warm up at 5.15pm at St Neots pool.

Help is always needed for the door / raffle / drinks / timekeeping and recording.

(Don’t worry, instructions will be given if you haven’t helped before)

Supporters cheering on swimmers are also an important part of any event!

Away Galas

These can be to many different places.

Coach departure times vary from 3.30 – 4.30 depending on distance.

(a small charge is made for the coach to help cover costs – a coach costs >£200 each time!)

Supporters are also more than welcome to travel on the coach with the team.

“Counties”

These are held as the Development gala (June), the Intermediate gala (November) and the main competition (March). Every swimmer who has achieved qualifying times will receive a form to complete for each swim event they can enter. These involve the whole club and are held at Peterborough regional pool or Cambridge Parkside pool.

Open Meets

These you enter yourselves but team galas take precedence please. You swim for yourself but are still representing Swans SC. They are generally a long day or weekend event. There are several throughout the year that many Swans regularly attend and these are generally highlighted on the board. Ask for more info if you are interested.

Swans Open Meet

This is our only major fund raising event of the year. It is a long whole day gala that we hope all swimmers attend. We need a lot of help throughout the day, and also before the event with organisation. If you can help please let us know! (You don’t have to be on the committee) We need raffle prizes for the door, timekeepers, judges, recorders, people to keep an eye on the children, help feeding the helpers! A barbeque runs all day too so help is needed there too. We also ask for sponsorship throughout the event so if you work for or know anybody who would sponsor a race / supply prizes / food please let us know.

Crystal Palace

This is also a training camp that we try to hold each year. Lots of swimming, diving and stroke work over 3 days usually in the February Half term. Interested? Keep your eyes on the board for the next one, or speak to Linda, you may still be able to go this year.

Scarborough

This is an open meet that everybody can attend. The team travels to Scarborough for the weekend spending Saturday at the open meet and having a bit of jolly before and after, time allowing. Great for team spirit.

Presentation evening

This is also the end of year Christmas party! Club Championship awards are presented to all swimmers followed by a buffet and disco. Fun for all the family and a celebration of the swimming year.

Leagues

This year we have entered 2 swimming leagues. The Anglian league, for the older swimmers and the Chiltern league, for the slightly younger. A league is a competition amongst a number of clubs and has several ‘rounds’ so please ensure if you swim in these that you are available for the rest!
